News from the Frontlines

The Cornerstone faculty advisors and director met recently to lay the groundwork for Cornerstonian growth. We're recruiting more members, putting Cornerstonians in contact with the Writing Center for volunteer opportunities, and getting those interested in tutoring in contact with people who can help them begin tutoring. We're planning banquets and feasts and we've found out the District now offers tutor training for students interested in tutoring.

We've got an expo coming up where Cornerstone people will be available to talk about the program to interested people. And we're beginning to put together our first Coffeehouse Conversation event. So stay tuned for more updates!

NE Cornerstone Has a Student Council!

NE Cornerstone is in its infancy. In fact, this semester is its (re)inaugural, well, semester. After being dormant for a few years, Cornerstone is roaring back to life with awesome honors classes taught by awesome faculty (coughcough) and taken by awesome students. And did I mention how awesome all this is?

Now, Cornerstone has its very own student council (two of whom will blog alongside yours truly, The Blogmistress). President, veep, treasurer, scribe, and historians--we're getting to be a bona fide campus organization!

Watching the Cornerstonians begin to take ownership today was fun. And helping them as they grow this new baby should be exciting.

Stay tuned for more Cornerstone news!

What Cornerstone Does

Besides meeting awesome people, making new friends, and being part of an academically rigorous community, members of the NE campus Cornerstone Honors program benefit from a solid network of contacts. From faculty references to fun and challenging classes to inside scoops for transferring to four-year universities to academic scholarships, NE Cornerstone provides its "Cornerstonians" with the tools for success.

Come check us out. Talk to the director or faculty advisors. We'll be happy to talk to you about all things Cornerstone!
